This is actually of foreign investment from a Malaysian company which is planning 175,000 ft.² of casino space on multiple floors, as well as 210,000 ft.²,  for eating facilities, and another 250,000 ft.² of retail selling space. In addition to this is going to be a 4000 seat theater including convention space of over 500,000 ft.²,  not to mention pools and water slides taking up another 300,000 ft.².

The Resorts World Las Vegas will be built where the old Stardust and Travelodge once stood. The property was bought from Boyd gaming for the small amount of $350 million. The $350 million is just a pittance of what was paid to Phil Ruffin for the Frontier just a few years ago.

Salute to the Troops

“Salute to the Troops” is underway in Las Vegas this week. MGM Resorts holds this event annually. The Gaming group puts veterans who have been wounded up at one of their resorts and treats them not only to a free stay but also shows and other activities through their 5 day stay. This year the hotel is The Mirage Hotel and Casino and has been the hotel of choice since the programs inception in 2008.

The partner in this endeavor is American Airlines who bring the troops at no charge for this special event. American airlines is the official airline of the USO and has proudly participated in this annual “Salute to the Troops” since 2008.

There approximately 60 troops who have been wounded while serving our country that are invited. Generally these troops are from the Washington D.C. area and the San Antonio area. The troops and their guests will be treated to several fun activities throughout the week including the Aviation Nation Airshow. They will also have a meet and greet with Terry Factor and his Ventriloquist Show at the Mirage.

Also included is a trip to the Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden also at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The 5 days there is certainly full of fun activities and surely some well deserved rest.

In an effort to continue change new Las Vegas shows coming to town starting in the fall is a new Cirque du Soleil, a Broadway show, a country singer and a singer with some flair. As always Las Vegas needs to keep new things flowing into town so that people will keep coming back. They have a choice either keep making new hotels or change the entertainment. Except for a few moments in Las Vegas history they have chosen to bring in new entertainment.

What is quite fascinating at least to me is that this time there are two big country acts coming to Las Vegas. Shania Twain will be at Caesars starting in December 2012 and faith Hill and Tim McGraw will be at the Venetian on December 7 2012. The newest Broadway show to open is also at the Venetian, Rock of Ages begins December 18, 2012.

Cirque du Soleil show which happens to be a more mysterious darker version of the massive Cirque shows called Zarkana. Basically the story is about a man whose name is Zark and he is trying to regain his powers and his love. The usual athletic abilities in all of thos things that scream Cirque du Soleil will be there such as trapeze and acrobatics.

 

Then late in in February of 2013 Planet Hollywood is presenting Loberace. Cee Lo Green is the mastermind behind the show which should prove to be very colorful story of famous music and dance from the past.

All in all sounds like there is a lot happening in Sin City both this fall and into next year with these Las Vegas Shows coming to town. Las Vegas over the years has always had a slow season in December because everyone is with their families and there is no conventions except the Rodeo Finals in early December.

Bringing in country stars for that period makes sense but keeping them for long runs it seems as if Las Vegas is trying to bring business in. usually December at least for the entertainment side has been catering to the local population by giving discounted show tickets and the like. Although i still believe that will be the case since there are so many shows in town.

The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino has just added a five story tower to the 106 year old hotel. The nice thing about the expansion is they could have gone modern but opted to keep the flavor of the original building. They even used some of the hotels beginning signage as well as paperwork and real whiskey bottles of days gone by

Prince Harry visited Sin City and created a stir when some photos taken by someone who attended the party decided to snap some quick pics. It appears as if the Prince is not even aware that the photos were being taken.

Apparently someone had a cell phone with them and the Prince will no doubt be embarrassed by these photos at a future date. i am sure he will be meeting Prince Charles in the not too distant future for a little chat. I am sure for Prince harry being in the Royal family is not the most pl;pleasant of environment.

ICandy is at center strip at Planet Hollywood. A show that is sure to tantalize both the site and the ears as the girls do their acts.  you might also want to check out some of the restaurants in Las Vegas next to the the theater where iCandy is so you can have a dinner and a show that includes great food and entertainment.

Las Vegas has on occasion at an off the strip hotel had a one day show but recently there have been a line of shows of the burlesque nature coming to town. A true Burlesque show by the name of The Lalas Burlesque Show, has begun in the lounge at the Palms Hotel and Casino.  The Palms Hotel and Casino is an off strip property that houses the Playboy Club and some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas

A famous name in burlesque is of course Gypsy Rose Lee who was famous for taking it off but never really revealing herself. Which in essence is the true art of it all. Back in the day it was considered an art form and today it is still an art form. In a city where salacious spectacles are a dime a dozen, Friday night’s debut performance by the Los Angeles-based burlesque troupe elevated the Lalas to a league of their own.

The intimate, interactive show, set to classic rock, has more personality than traditional burlesque revues like “Crazy Horse Paris” and more innovative, unusual routines — like the reverse striptease — than the Everyman fantasies of “X Burlesque.”

The five women of the troupe, all of whom dance professionally on shows like “Glee” and on tour with artists like Katy Perry, had the audience laughing as much as they were gawking. There were cheeky routines a’ plenty, such as a Pee Wee Herman-inspired shuffle to the song “Tequila”; there was an act involving a live power tool; and then there were numbers so sultry, like one involving a lace bodysuit and a pair of scissors, you were compelled to order another drink.

One thing you should know is that these ladies of burlesque, they are not the housewives next door but are professional dancers that have been on TV including concerts  and are upping the ante in their life  by starring in a show built around them. Next year will be a great time to Visit Las Vegas for Worlds Largest Observation Wheel which is coming to Las Vegas The High Roller which will be the largest Observation Wheel in the World at 550 FT. will be part of a new complex on center strip behind the Flamingo Hotel. This is part of Caesar’s Entertainment Linq project. There is another wheel coming across from Mandalay Bay. The foundation for that wheel

The Linq project, which will be completed in stages is designed to create space for retail shops and restaurants involving Imperial Palace, Flamingo Hotel and Harrah’s Carnival Court. The main change will be to Imperial Palace entrance, which has long needed a makeover. This project will also add to the number of restaurants in Las Vegas.

A couple of wheels are planned, The High Roller, which just recieved approval and the SkyVue which has already had the foundation poured. underway when it comes to observation wheels in Las Vegas. The SkyVue is slated to open in 2013 along with a roller coaster across from Mandalay Bay.

With the addition of restaurants in Las Vegas and new retail shops Caesar’s Entertainment is hoping this will be the hub for generation Y which is supposed to double their visits by 2015.

Come this October in 2012 Shows in Las Vegas Present a New Blue Man Group Show to be featured at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino. Jabbawockeez is currently playing there. The Blue man Group has been around for many years and played at many hotels. Kind of reminds me of when Wayne Newton played almost every hotel on the strip and downtown when the shows in Las Vegas required being in suit and tie and women women were dressed to the nines..

“With the new show, we really wanted to have fun, take risks and do something different,” said Chris Wink, co-founder of Blue Man Group. “We’re the only show that combines robots and inventive technology with comedy and inspiring theatrics. The energy kicks off on Monte Carlo’s casino floor with a dazzling procession of musical joy and luminescence, which can best be described as an energetic percussive parade designed by a mad scientist. The surging, intoxicating beat will fill the casino as Blue Man Group launches a Percussipede, a musical centipede of percussion instruments, musicians, robots and puppets co-created with world-renowned 3-D designer Michael Curry.

Each day, 45 minutes prior to the first show, a Blue Man groove will weave and shake its way through the casino; a musical celebration that will lure and entice unsuspecting visitors into the magical, imaginative world that is Blue Man Group.“We really wanted to connect with the audience before they even set foot in the theatre,” said Phil Stanton, co-founder of Blue Man Group. “The music and party atmosphere is contagious. The drumming pulls people in and the wild visuals will make them feel like they’ve been transported to a fun and fantastical world.”

With the Blue man group moving to a new hotel they will be adding on new devices and surprises. This sounds like it is going to fun with a procession starting on the casino floor of Monte Carlo with the Blueman Group leading the way. Reminiscent of Junkanoo in the Bahamas only without the flashy costumes.

After the old owners of the Hard Rock were forced out the new owners took over and the remodeling is over and it is now time to Visit Las Vegas to See New Hard Rock Vegas. The changes are wide and very obvious to the guest. A welcome change indeed, as the tired and drab has been transformed into the new and exciting. Every part of the public areas of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has been gone ove and redone.

Even Mr. luckys, fortunately the Lucky Seven 777 steak special is still in place and it is still not on the menu but just ask for it, avaialble 24/7.The renovation is not totally complete, the slots and high roller room is not completely finished but you can tell the gremlins have been at work.

Change is in the air at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The resort recently unveiled the results of a series of lavish renovations. Several new. “We carry Love This Planet,” said Kerri Matherly, the director of retail operations, while pointing out a fashionable canvas tote.

 

Encompassing all things green, the trendy lifestyle label is the epitome of conscious couture. “We’re the only place in Las Vegas where you can get this brand.”

Other refurbishments are visible at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino as well. For example, guests now get a fabulous first impression of the resort the minute they check in. “One of the things we’re really proud of is the new front desk,” said Travis Long, the vice president of hotel operations. Basically, the whole registration area has been remodeled. The focal point is a panoramic video display wall made up of 24 high-definition digital monitors. They span a total of 55 feet. Not only are the screens eye-catching, but they are also moveable – meaning each one can slide out to create a 3-D effect. “We can put advertising and concert footage up on the screens, and they can also do a variety of fun interactive things,” explained Long. “If you’ve arrived for a special occasion, like a birthday or a bachelor party, there’s going to be a keyboard where the agent can type that in. Then a message will pop up on the screen – maybe The Beatles will appear singing ‘They say it’s your birthday.’ Also, if we have any groups arriving, we can section off some of the screens and display a company logo.”

“T3″ is the first unit terminal to be constructed in the United States in the post-9/11 era. It includes 14 gates, seven of which can be used for international arrivals; an expansive ticketing lobby; space for two Transportation Security Administration checkpoints with up to 31 lanes; an eight-story garage with room for nearly 6,000 vehicles; more than a dozen stores and restaurants; and an automated tram system that enables Terminal 3 to handle the check-in, security and baggage claim needs of up to 26 gates at McCarran’s nearby D Concourse. Coupled with the airport’s existing infrastructure, Terminal 3 increases McCarran’s annual capacity to approximately 53 million passengers; its historic peak was nearly 48 million passengers in 2007.

This terminal will be equipped with electronics that will keep passengers aware of the weather not only in Las Vegas but also back home to their final destination.

Each check-in area is equipped with kiosks that allow passengers on participating air carriers to tag their own checked baggage, a time-saving initiative that has proven popular with travelers in recent U.S. trials and at airports outside the United States. In addition, each of T3′s 14 E gates has self-check-in equipment to ease the boarding process. Nearby, 14 video pylons support multiple monitors that display imagery and weather conditions for the destination cities of aircraft the E gates serve. McCarran’s long-standing practice of providing free public wireless Internet access has also been extended to allow the Wi-Fi signal to be used by passengers on aircraft that are parked at any of T3′s gates.
